I'm Walking to Fight Arthritis

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis over 3 years ago. Being a waitress and loving my job as much as I do, I knew that my condition would drastically alter my life. For over 2 years my RA was well managed and most people I came into contact with on a daily basis were completely unaware that I had Rheumatoid Arthritis. However, over the past 6 months, my disease has become more aggressive and I have developed a tolerance to a medication that was helping my quality of life enormously. My friends and family have helplessly watched me steadily deteriorate over the past six months. This insidious disease has been nearly as hard on them as it has on me. I am hoping that a new medication I have been prescribed will be effective and restore me to a better quality of life than I am currently enduring. Therefore, I am taking on a personal challenge to help myself and others in our community by participating in the Arthritis Foundation's Arthritis Walk®. Thousands of people across the country will join together to help improve the lives of 46 million Americans, who, like myself, are affected by doctor-diagnosed arthritis. The Arthritis Walk® will be led by inspirational men, women and children with arthritis wearing special blue honoree hats. I hope that you will support our efforts.
